Aspirin, Aluminum Hydroxide, Codeine Phosphate, Magnesium Hydroxide falls under ORGANIC ANION TRANSPORTER 1 (OAT1) SUBSTRATES — the group Banderol interacts with.

Small lab studies have found that Banderol may inhibit OATP1B1 (Organic Anion Transporting Polypeptide 1B1), which is a membrane protein responsible for the uptake of various drugs, hormones, and other biologically active substances into the cells of the liver and other tissues. It is often referred to as a drug transporter. It is a member of the OATP family of transporters and is known to play a critical role in the pharmacokinetics of many drugs. When OATPs are inhibited, it can cause problems with the elimination of drugs and result in a sudden rise in the concentration of the drug in the bloodstream and the extent to which it is absorbed (AUC) for drugs that rely on these transporters. This can increase the likelihood of adverse side effects associated with the therapy.

This combination product pairs aspirin and codeine with two antacids. The piece of it that matters most here is the aspirin. Lab studies suggest Banderol may block a liver transporter called OATP1B1, which helps move certain drugs into liver cells so they can be processed. If that uptake slows down, aspirin levels in your blood could climb a bit higher than expected. In real life, that might mean more stomach upset or irritation, a higher chance of heartburn or stomach bleeding, or ringing in the ears at higher doses.

Honestly, this is based on test-tube research, not studies in people, so the actual impact is uncertain. Codeine is mainly handled by other pathways, so it is less of a concern here. Please run this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two, and don't change your medicine on your own.

Here's the honest picture with this combo product (which pairs aspirin, codeine, and two antacids). The concern on file is that Banderol may block certain liver uptake transporters called OATP1B1 and OATP1B3. Aspirin can interact with these transporters, so in theory Banderol could slow how some of the aspirin component is handled and let a bit more linger in your system. That could nudge up aspirin-type effects like stomach upset, heartburn, or, rarely, easier bruising or bleeding.

That said, this comes only from small lab studies, and the real-world importance isn't clear. The codeine and antacid pieces aren't the main players here. Before combining them, please check with your pharmacist or doctor, especially since aspirin already carries bleeding and stomach risks.
