Banderol and Losartan Potassium

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Losartan Potassium and Banderol in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Pharmacist analysis

Due to the lack of scientific data, it is difficult to make definitive statements about potential drug interactions involving Banderol (Otoba parvifolia).

Although some preliminary studies done in a lab setting have noted some potential interactions (which can be found in our interaction checker), more are needed to better understand the safety of Banderol when combined with OTC (over-the-counter) or prescription drugs.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Losartan Potassium

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Losartan Potassium is filed under 7 classifications — including angiotensin receptor blockers (arbs), cytochrome p450 2c9 (cyp2c9) substrates, antihypertensive drugs. Banderol has documented interactions with 2 drug classes — the most serious being organic anion transporter 1 (oat1) substrates (moderate) and organic anion transporter 3 (oat3) substrates (moderate) — and none of Losartan Potassium’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

About Banderol

What is Banderol?

Banderol
  • Lyme disease support
  • Antimicrobial
  • Antifungal
  • Immune support
  • Inflammation

Banderol is a Nutramedix-branded herbal extract made from the bark of the Amazonian tree Otoba parvifolia, most often promoted as part of alternative Lyme disease protocols. There is very little high-quality human research to support its use, so the evidence behind its benefits is weak and largely preliminary. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and never use it to replace proven treatments.

Otoba parvifolia · Myristicaceae · Bark (extract) · Liquid tincture/drops, capsules

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Banderol is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Banderol record says about it on its own.

Banderol: dosing

There is no official, standardized dose for Banderol. It has not been studied enough in humans to set a proven safe and effective amount. If you choose to use it, follow the directions on the product label exactly, since the manufacturer's tincture is typically dosed as a small number of drops in water.

About Losartan

What Is Losartan Used For?

Brand name: Cozaar

Losartan treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children 6 years and older. Keeping blood pressure under control lowers the risk of serious events like stroke and heart attack.

It is also used to reduce the risk of stroke in people who have high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy (an enlarged heart muscle). Note: evidence suggests this stroke-risk benefit may not apply to Black patients. Additionally, losartan treats diabetic nephropathy — kidney damage caused by type 2 diabetes — in people who also have high blood pressure.
