Drug & supplement interaction

Bee Venom + Treprostinil (IV)

Treprostinil (IV) brand name: Remodulin.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Bee Venom and Treprostinil (IV) in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Bee Venom and Treprostinil (IV)

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Treprostinil (IV) and Bee Venom in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Bee Venom safety at a glance

Bee Venom overall Use caution Bee venom can trigger severe, even life-threatening allergic reactions and should be used only under professional supervision.
Pregnancy Avoid There is not enough safety information, and the risk of allergic reactions makes it best to avoid during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding Avoid Safety during breastfeeding is unknown, so it is best avoided.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Treprostinil (IV)

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Treprostinil (IV) is filed under 3 classifications — vasodilators, cytochrome p450 2c8 (cyp2c8) substrates, anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs. Bee Venom has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being immunosuppressants (moderate) — and none of Treprostinil (IV)’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Bee Venom and Treprostinil (IV) May Share Several of the Same Side Effects

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so taking both can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do. 4 of them are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

“Bleeding risk is the thread running through nearly every supplement flagged for treprostinil (Remodulin), the IV therapy for pulmonary arterial hypertension. About Bee Venom

What is Bee Venom?

Bee Venom
  • Joint pain and arthritis
  • Muscle and nerve pain
  • Bee sting allergy desensitization
  • Skin and cosmetic uses
  • Multiple sclerosis (traditional/alternative use)

Bee venom is a complex mixture of proteins and other compounds taken from honeybees and used in traditional medicine for pain and inflammation, and in conventional medicine for allergy shots to prevent severe sting reactions. Outside of supervised allergy treatment, strong evidence for its benefits is lacking, and it can cause serious allergic reactions, so it should only be used under medical supervision.

Venom secreted by the venom gland of the honeybee (Apis mellifera) · Purified injectable venom, bee sting therapy (live bees), creams and ointments, allergy desensitization extracts, some cosmetic products

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Bee Venom is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Bee Venom record says about it on its own.

Bee Venom: dosing

There is no standard, well-established dose of bee venom for general use. When it is used for allergy desensitization, an allergy specialist carefully chooses and adjusts the dose in a controlled setting. For over-the-counter creams or other products, follow the directions on the label. Do not try to treat yourself with live bee stings or injectable venom on your own.

About Treprostinil Injection

What Is Treprostinil Injection Used For?

Brand name: Remodulin

Treprostinil injection is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH, WHO Group 1) — high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs — to reduce symptoms during exercise. It has been studied in patients with moderate to severe PAH symptoms (NYHA Class II–IV) caused by idiopathic or heritable PAH, PAH linked to congenital heart defects, or PAH associated with connective tissue diseases.

It is also used for patients with PAH who need to transition off epoprostenol (another PAH medicine), to slow the rate of disease worsening during that switch. The benefits and risks of transitioning should be carefully weighed by the prescriber.
