Bredesen Protocol and Rizatriptan

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Rizatriptan and Bredesen Protocol in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Bredesen Protocol at all — not against Rizatriptan, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

What Rizatriptan’s Own FDA Label Lists

This is not an interaction — none of it involves Bredesen Protocol. These are the most notable effects listed in the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Rizatriptan’s own FDA label, for the medication by itself. Knowing the drug’s own list makes it easier to work out the likely cause if something new turns up while you take both. 3 of them are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • Serotonin syndrome Worth acting on
  • A heart attack Worth acting on
  • Chest pain Worth acting on
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Drowsiness
  • Tiredness mentioned in 6.7% of FDA reports for Rizatriptan
  • Dizziness mentioned in 4.5% of FDA reports for Rizatriptan
  • Headache mentioned in 10.0% of FDA reports for Rizatriptan

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Rizatriptan. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 15,803 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Rizatriptan that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Bredesen Protocol’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Bredesen Protocol side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Bredesen Protocol has no side effects.

About Bredesen Protocol

What is Bredesen Protocol?

  • Early memory loss
  • Mild cognitive impairment
  • Early Alzheimer's disease
  • Cognitive decline prevention
  • Brain health support

The Bredesen Protocol is not a herb or single supplement—it is a complex, individualized program of diet, exercise, sleep, stress reduction, and many supplements aimed at slowing or reversing cognitive decline. Rigorous, large, controlled studies are lacking, so its benefits remain unproven, and it should only be tried under medical supervision. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting any part of it.

Multi-part lifestyle and supplement program (diet, exercise, sleep, supplements, and other interventions)

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Bredesen Protocol is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Bredesen Protocol record says about it on its own.

Bredesen Protocol: dosing

There is no single standard dose for the Bredesen Protocol because it is a personalized, multi-part program, not one product. The supplements, diet, and other steps are meant to be tailored to each person based on testing and a practitioner's guidance. If you choose to explore it, do so under the supervision of a qualified clinician and review every supplement with your pharmacist to check the dose and avoid duplication or excess. Always follow the label on any product you take and do not exceed recommended amounts.

About Rizatriptan

What Is Rizatriptan Used For?

Brand name: Rizafilm

Rizatriptan treats migraine headaches — with or without aura — when they occur. It is approved for adults and for children and teens ages 6 to 17. It is available as a regular tablet (Maxalt, Rizatriptan, Rizatriptan Benzoate), an orally disintegrating tablet (Maxalt, Maxalt-MLT, Rizatriptan Benzoate ODT), and a dissolving oral film placed on the tongue (Rizafilm).

Rizatriptan is for stopping a migraine once it starts — it is not meant to prevent migraines from happening, and it is not approved for cluster headaches. It should only be used after a doctor has confirmed a migraine diagnosis.
