Cabbage Soup Diet and Bosutinib

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Bosutinib and Cabbage Soup Diet in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Cabbage Soup Diet alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Cabbage Soup Diet at all — not against Bosutinib, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Cabbage Soup Diet is an eating pattern rather than something you take. Ask your pharmacist or doctor before changing how you eat while on a prescribed medicine: some medicines are dosed around meals, and a change in diet can change how they work. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Bosutinib. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 8,931 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Bosutinib that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Cabbage Soup Diet’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Cabbage Soup Diet side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Cabbage Soup Diet has no side effects.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Bosutinib page

“Grapefruit is the first thing to know about if you take bosutinib (Bosulif) for chronic myeloid leukemia. Bosutinib is cleared by the enzyme CYP3A4, and grapefruit blocks that pathway, so drug levels climb and side effects with them.”

About Cabbage Soup Diet

What is Cabbage Soup Diet?

  • Rapid short-term weight loss
  • Quick jump-start before an event
  • Detox or cleanse beliefs
  • Kickstarting a longer diet

The Cabbage Soup Diet is a very low-calorie, 7-day fad diet built around eating large amounts of a cabbage-based soup. It may cause quick water and weight loss, but the loss is usually temporary, the diet is not nutritionally balanced, and most people regain the weight. It is not a healthy long-term plan, and people should talk to a doctor or pharmacist before trying it.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Cabbage Soup Diet is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Cabbage Soup Diet record says about it on its own.

Cabbage Soup Diet: dosing

There is no official or standardized version of the Cabbage Soup Diet. Most plans last about 7 days, with unlimited cabbage soup plus a short list of allowed foods that changes each day.Because the diet is not nutritionally balanced, experts advise against following it longer than a week or repeating it back-to-back.
