Cabbage Soup Diet and Rivaroxaban

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Rivaroxaban and Cabbage Soup Diet in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Cabbage Soup Diet alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Cabbage Soup Diet at all — not against Rivaroxaban, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Cabbage Soup Diet is an eating pattern rather than something you take. Ask your pharmacist or doctor before changing how you eat while on a prescribed medicine: some medicines are dosed around meals, and a change in diet can change how they work. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Knowing the drug’s own list makes it easier to work out the likely cause if something new turns up while you follow Cabbage Soup Diet and take the medicine. 5 of them are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • Bleeding in the gut Worth acting on mentioned in 10.5% of FDA reports for Rivaroxaban
  • Bleeding or bruising Worth acting on mentioned in 17.6% of FDA reports for Rivaroxaban

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Rivaroxaban. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 205,037 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Rivaroxaban that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Cabbage Soup Diet’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Cabbage Soup Diet side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Cabbage Soup Diet has no side effects.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Rivaroxaban

This page covers Cabbage Soup Diet only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Rivaroxaban page lists 285 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Rivaroxaban page

“Grapefruit is the interaction I would flag first for anyone taking rivaroxaban (Xarelto). It slows how the body clears this blood thinner, and higher levels mean more bleeding risk.”

About Cabbage Soup Diet

What is Cabbage Soup Diet?

  • Rapid short-term weight loss
  • Quick jump-start before an event
  • Detox or cleanse beliefs
  • Kickstarting a longer diet

The Cabbage Soup Diet is a very low-calorie, 7-day fad diet built around eating large amounts of a cabbage-based soup. It may cause quick water and weight loss, but the loss is usually temporary, the diet is not nutritionally balanced, and most people regain the weight. It is not a healthy long-term plan, and people should talk to a doctor or pharmacist before trying it.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Cabbage Soup Diet is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Cabbage Soup Diet record says about it on its own.

Cabbage Soup Diet: dosing

There is no official or standardized version of the Cabbage Soup Diet. Most plans last about 7 days, with unlimited cabbage soup plus a short list of allowed foods that changes each day.Because the diet is not nutritionally balanced, experts advise against following it longer than a week or repeating it back-to-back.

About Rivaroxaban

What Is Rivaroxaban Used For?

Brand name: Xarelto

Rivaroxaban tablets are used to reduce the risk of stroke in adults with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm), treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT, a blood clot in a vein) and pulmonary embolism (PE, a blood clot in the lungs), and lower the chances of these clots coming back. They also help prevent clots after hip or knee replacement surgery, protect hospitalized patients at risk for clots, and — in combination with aspirin — reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with coronary artery disease (CAD) or peripheral artery disease (PAD).

Rivaroxaban tablets are also approved for treating VTE (venous thromboembolism, blood clots in veins) and preventing recurrence in pediatric patients from birth to under 18 years, and for preventing clots in children aged 2 and older with congenital heart disease after the Fontan procedure. Rivaroxaban for oral suspension (available as Rivaroxaban Granule and Xarelto oral suspension) is specifically indicated for these two pediatric uses.
