Calendula + Hydrocodone
Hydrocodone brand names: Hydrocodone, Zohydro ER.
Calendula has a minor interaction with Hydrocodone. Theoretically, calendula might have additive effects when used with CNS depressants, although this appears to be unlikely.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Hydrocodone
Hydrocodone falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Calendula interacts with.
Although some animal research has suggested that a saponoside constituent in calendula may have sedative effects, calendula has been used for over 30 years without reports of sedation in humans.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the short version: there's really not much to worry about here. Hydrocodone is a strong opioid pain medicine that already makes many people feel drowsy or foggy. The concern on file is that calendula might add a little extra sleepiness on top of that. But this idea comes only from old animal studies looking at one plant compound, and in over 30 years of people using calendula, no one has reported it causing sedation.
So in plain terms, taking calendula (especially the usual skin creams and ointments) is very unlikely to noticeably boost hydrocodone's drowsiness or slow your breathing. Still, since hydrocodone is a powerful drug, it's smart to mention any supplement you use to your pharmacist or doctor, just so they have the full picture.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Hydrocodone page
“Most people taking hydrocodone (Zohydro ER) are treating real pain, and pain wrecks sleep, so sedating supplements look tempting. They are the worst pairing on this page: 78 of the 212 interacting ingredients add to hydrocodone's sedation, which with an opioid can mean dangerously slowed breathing.”

About Calendula
What is Calendula?
- Minor wounds and skin healing
- Skin inflammation and irritation
- Diaper rash
- Mouth and throat inflammation
- Soothing dry or chapped skin
Calendula is a flowering plant whose petals are used mainly in skin creams, oils, and ointments to soothe minor irritation and support wound healing. Some early research is promising for skin and mouth uses, but the overall evidence is limited. It is generally well tolerated on the skin, but people allergic to ragweed, daisies, or marigolds should be cautious.
About Hydrocodone
