Cananga Oil and Cefprozil

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Cefprozil and Cananga Oil in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Cananga Oil at all — not against Cefprozil, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Cananga Oil safety at a glance

What Cefprozil’s Own FDA Label Lists

This is not an interaction — none of it involves Cananga Oil. These are the most notable effects listed in the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Cefprozil’s own FDA label, for the medication by itself. Knowing the drug’s own list makes it easier to work out the likely cause if something new turns up while you take both.

  • Stomach pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Cefprozil. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 780 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Cefprozil that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Cananga Oil’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Cananga Oil side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Cananga Oil has no side effects.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Cefprozil page

“Cefprozil (Cefzil) is a cephalosporin antibiotic, usually a short course for ear, sinus, throat, or skin infections, and three of the 60 supplements on this list warrant real caution even for a week of pills. Activated charcoal can bind the drug and pull it out of your system before it works.”

About Cananga Oil

What is Cananga Oil?

  • Relaxation and stress relief
  • Aromatherapy for calm or sleep
  • Perfume and fragrance
  • Skin and hair care products
  • Mood support

Cananga oil is a fragrant essential oil from the flowers of the Cananga odorata tree, closely related to ylang-ylang oil, and is used mainly in aromatherapy and perfumery for relaxation. There is little solid scientific evidence that it treats any medical condition, and like other essential oils it should never be swallowed and should be diluted before skin use. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have sensitive skin.

Cananga odorata · Annonaceae · Flowers (essential oil distilled from the flowers) · Essential oil, diluted topical blends, aromatherapy diffuser oil, perfume and fragrance products

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Cananga Oil is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Cananga Oil record says about it on its own.

Cananga Oil: dosing

There is no established or standardized medical dose for cananga oil. It is used mainly as a scent rather than as a measured supplement. For aromatherapy, people typically add a few drops to a diffuser, and for skin use they dilute a small amount in a carrier oil such as coconut or jojoba oil. Never take it internally.

About Cefprozil

What Is Cefprozil Used For?

Brand name: Cefzil

Cefprozil tablets and oral suspension are both used to treat mild to moderate bacterial infections in adults and children. Approved uses include pharyngitis/tonsillitis (strep throat), acute sinusitis, otitis media (ear infections), acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, and uncomplicated skin and skin-structure infections.

Cefprozil tablets are also approved for secondary bacterial infection of acute bronchitis. Because antibiotic resistance is a real concern, cefprozil should only be used when the infection is proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria that respond to it.

Most-Reported Side Effects for Cefprozil

From FAERS, the FDA’s public side-effect reporting system (780 reports, all brands). Reports are voluntary and are not proof the drug caused the effect.
