Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Codeine, Papaverine
Codeine, Papaverine falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Cannabichromene (cbc) interacts with.
Animal research shows that cannabichromene, given as a single dose intraperitoneally, increases the sedative response to the drugs hexobarbital, barbital, and zoxazolamine. However, this effect was not maintained when cannabichromene was given continuously. After receiving cannabichromene daily for 7 days, the sedative effect of these drugs was reduced when compared with a control group or a single dose of cannabichromene.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: this combo product pairs codeine (an opioid pain reliever and cough suppressant) with papaverine (a muscle relaxer for blood vessels). Codeine can already make you drowsy and slow your breathing. The concern with CBC is an additive sedation effect, meaning the two together could leave you feeling more sleepy, foggy, dizzy, or less alert than either one alone.
I want to be honest about how thin the evidence is here. This warning comes only from animal studies, not people, and the sedation actually faded with repeated dosing in those animals. So it's a possible, theoretical concern rather than something firmly proven. Still, since codeine affects breathing, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and never adjust your dose on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Codeine, Papaverine page
“Codeine combined with papaverine (Copavin) is an opioid product, and I read its supplement list as one that calls for genuine care. More than half of the 145 entries pile sedation on top of the drug's own, and the standouts are everyday alcohol (beer and wine each carry a major rating, well documented in people) and kava, combinations…”
