Phenytoin falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Cannabichromene (cbc) interacts with.

Using cannabichromene with drugs that have sedative properties may cause additive therapeutic and adverse effects.
Animal research shows that cannabichromene, given as a single dose intraperitoneally, increases the sedative response to the drugs hexobarbital, barbital, and zoxazolamine. However, this effect was not maintained when cannabichromene was given continuously. After receiving cannabichromene daily for 7 days, the sedative effect of these drugs was reduced when compared with a control group or a single dose of cannabichromene.

Here's the short version on combining CBC with phenytoin (Dilantin). Phenytoin can already make some people drowsy, dizzy, or unsteady on their feet. The concern on file is that CBC may add to that calming, sedating effect, so together they could leave you feeling sleepier or more foggy than either one alone.

I want to be honest about how thin the evidence is here. This comes only from animal studies, not from people, and the results were mixed (a single dose increased sedation, but daily use over a week actually lowered it). So we really can't predict how it plays out in real life. Phenytoin is also a tricky drug where small shifts can matter, so don't add a CBC product without first checking with your pharmacist or doctor.

About Phenytoin

What Is Phenytoin Used For?

Brand names: Dilantin Kapseals, Dilantin, Di-Phen, Dilantin Infatabs, Phenytek, Dilantin injection

Phenytoin is used to treat and prevent seizures. The specific types covered depend on the formulation. Oral extended-release capsules (including Phenytek), chewable tablets (including Dilantin Infatabs and Phenytoin Infatabs), and oral suspension (including Dilantin-125) are used for tonic-clonic (grand mal) and psychomotor (temporal lobe) seizures; most oral forms also cover prevention and treatment of seizures occurring during or after neurosurgery. Chewable tablets and some capsule formulations also cover complex partial seizures.

Parenteral (injectable) phenytoin sodium is used for generalized tonic-clonic status epilepticus (a prolonged, life-threatening seizure emergency) and for prevention and treatment of seizures during neurosurgery. The IV form can also substitute short-term for oral phenytoin when a patient cannot take it by mouth.
