Here's the simple version: both GHB and the codeine in Copavin slow down your central nervous system. Codeine is an opioid that already makes people drowsy and can slow breathing, and GHB is a strong sedative that does the very same thing. Stack them together and those effects don't just add up, they can pile on top of each other.

The real worry is your breathing. Combining these can lead to deep sedation, very slow or shallow breathing, low blood pressure, passing out, and in a worst case, coma. Honestly, non-prescription GHB isn't safe to use at all. Please don't combine these, and talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making any changes to your medications.

GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) is a powerful central nervous system depressant that is NOT a safe dietary supplement. In the U.S. it is a controlled substance, and only a tightly regulated prescription form (sodium oxybate) is legal for narcolepsy. Non-prescription GHB can cause coma, breathing failure, and death, and it is also a known 'date-rape' drug — it should not be taken outside of medical supervision.
