Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
RITONAVIR (Norvir)
Concomitant use of a small dose of GHB with the antiretroviral drugs ritonavir and saquinavir reportedly caused a near-fatal reaction, likely due to inhibition of GHB metabolism.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with this pair. Paxlovid contains ritonavir, which is a strong blocker of certain liver enzymes. That blocking action is actually the point of ritonavir, it slows the breakdown of the antiviral so it works better. The trouble is that ritonavir can also slow how your body clears GHB, letting GHB pile up to dangerous levels.
There is a real-world report of a near-fatal reaction when someone took even a small amount of GHB along with ritonavir. Because GHB is a powerful nervous-system depressant, too much can cause heavy sedation, slowed or stopped breathing, and coma. This is anecdotal evidence, but the stakes are high. GHB is not a safe supplement to begin with. Please do not combine these, and talk with your pharmacist or doctor about any product you're taking.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Nirmatrelvir, Ritonavir page
“Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir and ritonavir) deserves genuine care around supplements, mostly because its ritonavir component strongly blocks the liver enzyme CYP3A4. The bulk of this list is made up of ingredients that enzyme normally clears, so their levels can climb unpredictably during the five-day course.”

About Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (ghb)
What is Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (ghb)?
- Narcolepsy (cataplexy and excessive daytime sleepiness)
- Sleep aid
- Misused as a recreational 'party drug'
- Bodybuilding/muscle building (unproven)
- Alcohol withdrawal (in some countries)
GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) is a powerful central nervous system depressant that is NOT a safe dietary supplement. In the U.S. it is a controlled substance, and only a tightly regulated prescription form (sodium oxybate) is legal for narcolepsy. Non-prescription GHB can cause coma, breathing failure, and death, and it is also a known 'date-rape' drug — it should not be taken outside of medical supervision.
