Dextroamphetamine falls under AMPHETAMINES — the group Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (ghb) interacts with.

Concomitant use of amphetamines and GHB can increase the risk of severe adverse effects.
Concomitant use of GHB with amphetamines has been associated with severe adverse effects. Theoretically, concomitant use of GHB with amphetamines may also antagonize the effects of GHB. Conversely, concomitant use of GHB with amphetamines is reported to mask the symptoms of amphetamine intoxication.

First, an important safety note: GHB is not a real dietary supplement. Outside of the tightly controlled prescription form (sodium oxybate), it is a dangerous and illegal drug. Mixing it with dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine, Xelstrym) is a risky combination. These two pull your brain in opposite directions, since dextroamphetamine is a stimulant that revs you up while GHB is a heavy sedative that slows you down.

Because they oppose each other, the stimulant can hide how impaired you actually are from GHB, masking warning signs like dangerous sleepiness or slowed breathing until things turn serious. The reports linking these two to severe reactions are anecdotal, so this is a possible rather than proven risk, but the danger is real. Please don't combine them, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist about any concerns.

GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) is a powerful central nervous system depressant that is NOT a safe dietary supplement. In the U.S. it is a controlled substance, and only a tightly regulated prescription form (sodium oxybate) is legal for narcolepsy. Non-prescription GHB can cause coma, breathing failure, and death, and it is also a known 'date-rape' drug — it should not be taken outside of medical supervision.

What Is Dextroamphetamine Used For?

Brand name: Dexedrine

Dextroamphetamine treats two conditions: ADHD and narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness). It is available in multiple forms — tablets, extended-release capsules, oral solution, and a skin patch — and the approved age ranges vary by product.

Oral tablets (Zenzedi, generic) and oral solutions (Procentra, generic) are approved for ADHD in children as young as 3 years old and for narcolepsy. Extended-release capsules (Dexedrine, generic) are approved for ADHD in children ages 6 to 16 and for narcolepsy. Xelstrym, the transdermal patch, is approved only for ADHD — in adults and children ages 6 and older — and is not indicated for narcolepsy.
