Here's the honest reality with naloxone (Narcan, Kloxxado) and GHB. Naloxone is an opioid blocker, so it reverses overdoses from drugs like heroin, fentanyl, or oxycodone by knocking opioids off their receptors. GHB, on the other hand, isn't an opioid. It calms the brain through GABA-B and its own receptors, which naloxone doesn't touch.

On paper, some have wondered if naloxone could push back against GHB's effects, but in real-world reports it generally does not reverse GHB sedation or breathing trouble. So if someone has taken GHB and is heavily sedated, don't assume naloxone will fix it. This is a life-threatening situation that needs 911 and emergency care right away. Please talk with a doctor or pharmacist about any overdose concerns.

GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) is a powerful central nervous system depressant that is NOT a safe dietary supplement. In the U.S. it is a controlled substance, and only a tightly regulated prescription form (sodium oxybate) is legal for narcolepsy. Non-prescription GHB can cause coma, breathing failure, and death, and it is also a known 'date-rape' drug — it should not be taken outside of medical supervision.

What Is Naloxone Nasal Spray Used For?

Brand names: Evzio, Kloxxado

Naloxone nasal spray is used for the emergency treatment of known or suspected opioid overdose, recognized by slowed or stopped breathing and/or severe drowsiness or unresponsiveness. It is intended to be given immediately while emergency medical help is on the way — it is not a substitute for calling 911.

It is approved for adults and pediatric patients of all ages. Kloxxado is one of the branded nasal spray products supported for this use, alongside Narcan, Rextovy, Rezenopy, and RiVive.
