Cassava + Liotrix
Liotrix brand names: Euthroid 3, Euthroid 1/2, Euthroid 1.
Cassava has a moderate interaction with Liotrix. Evidence from human and animal research suggests that cassava root has marked antithyroid effects, particularly if poorly processed or if consumed as part of a protein-deficient diet.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
THYROID HORMONE
Why this applies to Liotrix
Liotrix falls under THYROID HORMONE — the group Cassava interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Liotrix: it's a thyroid hormone replacement (a mix of T4 and T3) that you take because your own thyroid isn't keeping up. Cassava is interesting because it has compounds that can push against your thyroid, especially when it's poorly processed or eaten in large amounts on a low-protein diet. So in theory, regularly eating a lot of cassava could work in the opposite direction of your medicine and chip away at the benefit you get from it.
If that happened, your old hypothyroid symptoms might creep back, things like fatigue, feeling cold, constipation, or weight gain. To be fair, this is mostly theoretical and tied to heavy intake, not a normal serving. Properly cooked cassava as an occasional food is far less of a worry than concentrated supplements. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before using cassava products.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Liotrix page
“Liotrix (Euthroid) combines both thyroid hormones, and since steady hormone levels are the entire point of treatment, this list deserves a slow, serious read. Most entries fall into two camps: twenty-one ingredients act on the hormone itself, some boosting it and others blunting it, while another seventeen change how well the dose is a…”

About Cassava
What is Cassava?
- Dietary staple/source of carbohydrates
- Fertility aid (to conceive twins)
- Digestive support
- General energy
- Gluten-free flour alternative
Cassava is a starchy root vegetable that feeds millions of people worldwide, but it must be properly cooked or processed because the raw plant contains compounds that release cyanide. As a supplement, it is marketed for fertility and twin conception, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these claims. Always prepare cassava correctly and talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using cassava products for health reasons.
About Liotrix
What Is Liotrix Used For?
Brand names: Euthroid 3, Euthroid 1/2, Euthroid 1
-
Liotrix is used to treat hypothyroidism (a condition that results when the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone). Symptoms of hypothyroidism include lack of energy, depression, constipation, weight gain, hair loss, dry skin, dry coarse hair, muscle cramps, decreased concentration, aches and pains, swelling of the legs, and increased sensitivity to cold. When taken correctly, liotrix can reverse these symptoms. Liotrix is also used to treat goiter (enlarged thyroid gland). This medication is also used to test for hyperthyroidism (a condition where the thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone). Liotrix is in a class of medications called thyroid agents. It works by supplying the thyroid hormones normally produced by the body.
