Cassava + Menotropins
Menotropins brand names: Repronex, Menopur.
Cassava has a moderate interaction with Menotropins. Evidence from human and animal research suggests that cassava root has marked antithyroid effects, particularly if poorly processed or if consumed as part of a protein-deficient diet.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
THYROID HORMONE
Why this applies to Menotropins
Menotropins falls under THYROID HORMONE — the group Cassava interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's something worth clearing up first: the interaction on file is really about thyroid hormone medicines (like levothyroxine), not about Menotropins. Menotropins (Repronex, Menopur) is a fertility injection made of FSH and LH that you use to stimulate your ovaries during fertility treatment. It isn't a thyroid hormone, so the cassava thyroid concern doesn't apply to it the same way.
That said, cassava in large or poorly processed amounts may lower your natural thyroid hormone levels, and thyroid balance does matter for fertility and ovulation. So while cassava won't directly weaken your Menotropins shots, it could nudge your thyroid in an unhelpful direction. This is theoretical, based mostly on how cassava behaves. Normal cooked food portions are unlikely to matter, but check with your fertility doctor before using concentrated cassava supplements.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Menotropins page
“If you are using menotropins (Menopur, Repronex) for fertility treatment, I would hold off on every one of the 21 supplements on this page until your prescriber weighs in. All of them touch thyroid hormone activity in one direction or the other, and steady thyroid function matters when you are trying to get a cycle to succeed.”

About Cassava
What is Cassava?
- Dietary staple/source of carbohydrates
- Fertility aid (to conceive twins)
- Digestive support
- General energy
- Gluten-free flour alternative
Cassava is a starchy root vegetable that feeds millions of people worldwide, but it must be properly cooked or processed because the raw plant contains compounds that release cyanide. As a supplement, it is marketed for fertility and twin conception, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these claims. Always prepare cassava correctly and talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using cassava products for health reasons.
