Here's the situation with Alefacept (Amevive). It's an injectable biologic that calms down a part of your immune system to help treat plaque psoriasis. Catechu is rich in plant compounds (tannins and flavonoids) that, in lab dishes and animal studies, seem to nudge the immune system on their own.

The worry is purely theoretical: if catechu stirs up immune activity, it could work against what Alefacept is trying to do, possibly making your psoriasis less controlled. To be clear, this hasn't been shown in real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since Alefacept already lowers your immune defenses, I'd run any catechu supplement past your doctor or pharmacist first rather than mixing them blindly.
