Collard + Glipizide
Glipizide brand names: Glucotrol, Glucotrol XL.
Collard has a moderate interaction with Glipizide. In an animal study, an aqueous extract of collard leaves and stems has been shown to reduce glucose levels.

ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Glipizide
Glipizide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Collard interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: collard greens may gently lower your blood sugar on their own, and glipizide already does that by nudging your pancreas to release insulin. Stack the two and the effect could add up, which in theory raises the chance of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). That can show up as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or feeling confused or weak.
Now, the honest part: this concern comes from an animal study using a concentrated collard extract, not from people eating greens at dinner. A normal serving of collards as food is very unlikely to cause trouble. A concentrated supplement is more of a question mark. If you take glipizide, it's still smart to check your sugars and chat with your pharmacist or doctor before starting any collard supplement.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Glipizide page
“Glipizide (Glucotrol, Glucotrol XL) lowers blood sugar by prompting the pancreas to release more insulin, and that same power is why I read its supplement list with real seriousness. Of the 307 ingredients on file, 239 also act on blood glucose, so stacking them can drive sugar dangerously low.”

About Collard
What is Collard?
- General nutrition and vitamin source
- Bone health
- Heart health support
- Digestive fiber
- Antioxidant intake
Collard is a leafy green vegetable in the cabbage family that is rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber, and is best thought of as a nutritious food rather than a medicine. Eating it as part of a balanced diet is healthy for most people, but there is little high-quality research on collard as a concentrated supplement. If you take blood thinners or have kidney concerns, talk with your pharmacist or doctor because of its vitamin K and oxalate content.
About Glipizide
What Is Glipizide Used For?
Brand names: Glucotrol, Glucotrol XL
Glipizide — available as a regular tablet and as an extended-release tablet (including the brand Glucotrol XL) — is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is always used together with diet and exercise, not instead of them.
Glipizide is not used for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication where the blood becomes dangerously acidic).

Glipizide Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Glipizide as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Collard — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
