Prucalopride falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (thc) interacts with.

Theoretically, THC might alter levels of drugs that are substrates of P-glycoprotein (P-gp).
Most in vitro research suggests that THC can inhibit P-gp and increase the accumulation of probe compounds by reducing P-gp mediated drug efflux. In vitro studies in kidney cell lines show that a 1-hour exposure to CBD and THC inhibits P-gp. THC may also alter the expression of P-gp, although this effect appears to vary based on duration of exposure. Some in vitro research in lymphoblastoid leukemia cell lines indicates that a 1-hour exposure to cannabinoids does not affect P-gp expression, while a prolonged 72-hour exposure decreases P-gp expression. Other in vitro research in these cell lines shows that a 4-hour exposure to THC and CBD induces P-gp gene expression, while exposure for longer than 4 hours and up to 48 hours does not induce P-gp gene expression.

Here's the gist for prucalopride (Motegrity, Resotran): it's carried around the body partly by a transporter pump called P-glycoprotein, or P-gp for short. Lab studies hint that THC can slow that pump down. If that happened in real life, a bit more prucalopride could linger in your system, which might nudge up its usual side effects like cramping, diarrhea, nausea, or headache.

The important part: this is theoretical, based only on cell and animal studies, not on people taking the two together. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but it's worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you notice stronger stomach upset after adding THC. Don't start, stop, or change either one on your own.

What Is Prucalopride Used For?

Brand names: Resotran, Resolor, Motegrity

Prucalopride tablets — sold under the brand name Motegrity and also available as generic prucalopride and prucalopride succinate — are indicated for the treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) in adults. CIC is ongoing constipation with no identified underlying cause.

This indication applies to all approved oral tablet forms of prucalopride. It is not approved for use in children; a study in pediatric patients was stopped early because the medication did not show effectiveness in that age group.
