Eucalyptus + Ivabradine
Ivabradine brand names: Procoralan, Coralan, Corlentor, Corlanor.
Eucalyptus has a moderate interaction with Ivabradine. Theoretically, eucalyptus might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Ivabradine
Ivabradine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Eucalyptus interacts with.
In vitro research suggests that eucalyptus oil might inhibit CYP3A4, although this has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Corlanor (ivabradine): your body clears it using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab and animal studies hint that eucalyptus oil might slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in people, ivabradine could build up and act stronger than intended, which might slow your heart rate too much. With ivabradine, that can show up as dizziness, tiredness, feeling lightheaded, or those brief flashes of brightness in your vision (called phosphenes).
I want to be honest though: this is only a theoretical concern. It has not been shown in real patients, and simply smelling a vapor rub or inhaling eucalyptus is unlikely to matter. Concentrated oil swallowed is a different story (and unsafe anyway). Before mixing them, just check with your pharmacist or doctor.

About Eucalyptus
What is Eucalyptus?
- Cough and chest congestion
- Colds and flu symptoms
- Stuffy nose
- Sore throat
- Minor muscle and joint aches
- Aromatherapy
Eucalyptus is best known for its strong-smelling oil used in vapor rubs, inhalants, and lozenges to ease coughs and congestion. It may provide mild, short-term relief of cold symptoms, but the oil is toxic if swallowed and must never be taken by mouth undiluted. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially in children, during pregnancy, or while breastfeeding.
About Ivabradine
What Is Ivabradine Used For?
Brand names: Procoralan, Coralan, Corlentor, Corlanor
Ivabradine is used for stable, symptomatic chronic heart failure in adults to reduce the risk of being hospitalized for worsening heart failure. It is for adults with a reduced ejection fraction (the heart's pumping strength is low, 35% or less), who are in normal sinus rhythm with a resting heart rate of 70 beats per minute or higher. They must also be on the highest beta-blocker dose they can tolerate, or be unable to take beta-blockers.
Corlanor (the brand) is also approved to treat stable, symptomatic heart failure due to dilated cardiomyopathy (a weakened, enlarged heart muscle) in children 6 months and older who are in sinus rhythm with an elevated heart rate. The generic ivabradine tablet labels list the adult use only.
