Zopiclone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Fennel interacts with.

Theoretically, fennel might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.

In vitro research suggests that fennel inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme activity. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the basic idea: your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear zopiclone (your sleep aid) out of your system. Lab studies hint that fennel might slow that enzyme down a bit. If it did, zopiclone could linger longer and feel stronger, meaning more next-morning grogginess, drowsiness, dizziness, or that metallic taste some people get.

The honest part: this comes only from test-tube research, and it has not been seen in real people. Everyday fennel in cooking or tea is very unlikely to cause a problem. Concentrated fennel capsules or the essential oil are where I'd be more cautious. If you take those regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.
