Liothyronine falls under THYROID HORMONE — the group Fucus Vesiculosus interacts with.
Fucus vesiculosus contains high concentrations of iodine. Iodine in high doses has been reported to cause both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, depending on the individual's past medical history. Taking Fucus vesiculosus while using thyroid hormone could alter the effects of thyroid hormone.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing about bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosus): it's loaded with iodine, and that iodine can really throw off your thyroid balance. Since you're taking liothyronine (Cytomel) to manage your thyroid, adding a variable, sometimes high dose of iodine on top of it could push your levels in either direction. Some people get pushed toward an overactive state (racing heart, jitters, trouble sleeping, weight loss), while others can swing the other way and feel sluggish, tired, or cold.
This concern is based on how iodine behaves in the body rather than solid studies pairing the two, so it's theoretical. Still, dosing your thyroid is a balancing act, so please don't add bladderwrack without checking with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Liothyronine Used For?
Brand name: Cytomel
Liothyronine (available as tablets under the brand names Cytomel, Liomny, and Liothyronine Sodium, and as an injection under Liothyronine Sodium and Triostat) is primarily used to treat hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid) across all its forms — whether the cause is in the thyroid itself, the pituitary gland, or the hypothalamus, and whether it was present at birth or developed over time.
The oral tablets are also used alongside surgery and radioiodine therapy to suppress TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) in people with well-differentiated thyroid cancer, and as a diagnostic agent in thyroid suppression tests. Liothyronine sodium injection is specifically indicated for myxedema coma (a life-threatening form of severe hypothyroidism) and may be used in patients who are allergic to thyroid products derived from pork or beef.
