Gelsemium and Aluminum Hydroxide, Aspirin, Magnesium Hydroxide

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Aluminum Hydroxide, Aspirin, Magnesium Hydroxide and Gelsemium in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Gelsemium at all — not against Aluminum Hydroxide, Aspirin, Magnesium Hydroxide, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Aluminum Hydroxide, Aspirin, Magnesium Hydroxide page

“Ascriptin combines aspirin with two antacids, aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide, and the aspirin part already thins the blood on its own. That is why more than 200 of the 255 ingredients listed here can raise bleeding risk, and why this page deserves a careful read rather than a quick skim.”

About Gelsemium

What is Gelsemium?

  • Anxiety and nervousness
  • Headache and migraine
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Nerve pain (neuralgia)
  • Stage fright

Gelsemium is a highly toxic flowering plant most often sold today in very dilute homeopathic forms for anxiety, headaches, and flu-like symptoms. There is little reliable scientific evidence that it works, and the raw plant is dangerously poisonous, so it should never be used in crude or concentrated form. Always talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying it.

Gelsemium sempervirens · Gelsemiaceae · Root and rhizome (also used in homeopathic preparations) · Homeopathic pellets and liquid dilutions, tinctures

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Gelsemium is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Gelsemium record says about it on its own.

Gelsemium: dosing

There is no established safe dose for the Gelsemium plant, and the crude herb should not be taken because of its toxicity. Homeopathic products use standardized dilution scales rather than measured milligram amounts of plant. If you choose to use a homeopathic Gelsemium product, follow the directions on the label exactly and do not exceed them.

About Aspirin

What Is Aspirin Used For?

Brand name: Ascriptin

Aspirin is used to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains from headaches, backaches, muscle aches, toothaches, menstrual cramps, the common cold, and minor arthritis pain. It also temporarily reduces fever.

Some coated aspirin tablet products note that, under a doctor's supervision, aspirin can help prevent another heart attack or stroke in adults who have already had one. Because of their delayed-release design, those coated products will not give fast relief for headaches or other symptoms needing quick relief.
