Glossy Privet and Voriconazole

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Voriconazole and Glossy Privet in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Voriconazole

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Voriconazole is filed under 11 classifications — including antifungals, cytochrome p450 2c19 (cyp2c19) inhibitors, cytochrome p450 2c9 (cyp2c9) inhibitors. Glossy Privet has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being lithium (moderate) — and none of Voriconazole’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Glossy Privet — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Voriconazole’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Voriconazole column appears here.

About Glossy Privet

What is Glossy Privet?

  • Liver and kidney support in traditional medicine
  • Immune support
  • Anti-aging and general tonic
  • Blurred vision and dizziness
  • Premature graying of hair

Glossy Privet (Ligustrum lucidum) is a fruit long used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, often combined with other herbs as a liver and kidney 'tonic.' Most of the research is from laboratory and animal studies, so its benefits in people are not well proven. Because human safety data are limited, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Ligustrum lucidum · Oleaceae · Ripe fruit (berries) · Dried fruit, decoctions (teas), powders, capsules, tinctures, and herbal formulas

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Glossy Privet is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Glossy Privet record says about it on its own.

Glossy Privet: dosing

There is no well-established, standardized dose of Glossy Privet for any condition. Traditional use is usually as part of a multi-herb decoction or formula prepared by a practitioner, rather than as a single supplement.Because products vary widely in strength and quality, the safest approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed the recommended amount.

About Voriconazole

What Is Voriconazole Used For?

Brand name: Vfend

Voriconazole treats several serious fungal infections. Across all available forms — tablets, oral suspension, and intravenous (IV) injection — it is used for invasive aspergillosis (a dangerous mold infection), candidemia (Candida fungus in the bloodstream) in patients who are not neutropenic (not severely low on white blood cells), other deep-tissue Candida infections, and serious infections caused by Scedosporium apiospermum or Fusarium species in patients who cannot tolerate or have not responded to other antifungal treatments.

Esophageal candidiasis (a Candida infection of the esophagus, the swallowing tube) is also an approved use for most formulations. Note on the oral tablet form (generic voriconazole tablets): that specific tablet formulation is approved for patients aged 12 to 14 years weighing at least 50 kg, and all patients 15 years and older — not for younger or smaller children. The oral suspension and the IV injection are approved for patients 2 years and older for most of these conditions.
