Tamoxifen Citrate falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Hesperidin interacts with.

Theoretically, hesperidin might inhibit P-glycoprotein-mediated drug efflux and potentially increase levels of drugs that are substrates of P-glycoprotein.
In vitro research shows that hesperidin can inhibit P-glycoprotein efflux. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version on combining hesperidin with your tamoxifen. Tamoxifen is moved around the body partly by a little cellular pump called P-glycoprotein. In lab dish studies, hesperidin appears to slow that pump down, which could in theory let a bit more tamoxifen stay in your system. Higher levels might mean more of the usual tamoxifen effects, things like hot flashes, leg cramps, or nausea.

The important thing to know is that this has only been seen in test tubes, not in actual people, so we really don't know if it matters in real life. Small amounts of citrus in your diet aren't a concern. Before starting a concentrated hesperidin supplement, just run it by your oncologist or pharmacist so they can keep an eye on things.

Hesperidin is a flavonoid found in citrus fruits that is often combined with diosmin and used for vein and circulation problems like hemorrhoids and varicose veins. Some evidence supports these uses, but data for many other claims is limited. It is generally well tolerated, but pregnant and breastfeeding people should avoid it because safety has not been established.

About Tamoxifen

What Is Tamoxifen Used For?

Brand names: Nolvadex, Soltamox

Tamoxifen is used to treat estrogen receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer in both women and men, and as follow-up (adjuvant) therapy after surgery for early-stage breast cancer in women. It also reduces the occurrence of cancer in the opposite breast when used as adjuvant therapy.

In women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS — an early, non-invasive breast change) following surgery and radiation, tamoxifen lowers the risk of developing invasive breast cancer. It is also approved to reduce the risk of breast cancer in women who are at high risk but have not yet been diagnosed. Both Tamoxifen Citrate tablets and Soltamox oral solution share these indications.
