Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Warfarin Sodium
Warfarin Sodium falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Hesperidin interacts with.
Animal research suggests that hesperetin, a bioflavonoid aglycone derivative of hesperidin, may have antiplatelet activity.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Warfarin is already a very effective blood thinner, and it's one of those medicines where the dose has to stay in a narrow window. Adding hesperidin to the mix could, in theory, nudge things a little further toward thinning. The idea is that a compound related to hesperidin may have mild antiplatelet activity, so stacking it on top of warfarin might add up to more bleeding risk than warfarin alone.
I want to be honest about how shaky this one is. The concern comes only from lab and animal work, not real patient studies, so it's theoretical. Still, with warfarin I play it safe. Watch for signs like easy bruising, bleeding gums, nosebleeds, or unusually dark stools, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting hesperidin so they can keep an eye on your INR.
- Jin, Y. R., Han, X. H., Zhang, Y. H., Lee, J. J., Lim, Y., Chung, J. H., and Yun, Y. P. Antiplatelet activity of hesperetin, a bioflavonoid, is mainly mediated by inhibition of PLC-gamma2 phosphorylation and cyclooxygenase-1 activity. Atherosclerosis 200

About Hesperidin
What is Hesperidin?
- Hemorrhoids
- Varicose veins and poor circulation
- Leg swelling (venous insufficiency)
- High blood pressure
- Antioxidant support
Hesperidin is a flavonoid found in citrus fruits that is often combined with diosmin and used for vein and circulation problems like hemorrhoids and varicose veins. Some evidence supports these uses, but data for many other claims is limited. It is generally well tolerated, but pregnant and breastfeeding people should avoid it because safety has not been established.
About Warfarin
What Is Warfarin Used For?
Brand names: Coumadin, Panwarfin, Sofarin
Warfarin sodium tablets and Jantoven tablets are both used to prevent and treat venous thrombosis (blood clots in the veins) and pulmonary embolism (a clot in the lungs). They are also used to prevent clot-related complications in people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm) or who have had a heart valve replaced.
In people who have had a heart attack, warfarin is used to reduce the risk of death, another heart attack, stroke, or other clotting events. It does not dissolve an existing clot, but it helps prevent the clot from growing and stops new dangerous clots from forming.
