Janumet pairs two diabetes medicines, metformin and sitagliptin, that already work to bring your blood sugar down. Here's the thing with Indian gooseberry (amla): some lower-quality human studies suggest the fruit or its extract can also nudge blood sugar lower on its own. Stack that effect on top of your Janumet and you may push your numbers down further than intended.

That can show up as low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), with shakiness, sweating, dizziness, headache, or feeling oddly hungry or confused. The evidence here is moderate, not rock-solid, and eating amla as a food is far less likely to matter than taking concentrated supplement capsules. Please don't change your Janumet dose on your own. Chat with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep checking your sugars if you add amla.
