Why this applies to Linagliptin

Linagliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Japanese Apricot interacts with.

Theoretically, taking Japanese apricot in combination with antidiabetes drugs might lower blood glucose and increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Japanese apricot fruit extract has been shown to reduce levels of fasting glucose in a diabetic animal model. However, this has not been shown in humans. Until more is known, use caution.
Some antidiabetes medications include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), chlorpropamide (Diabinese), glipizide (Glucotrol), tolbutamide (Orinase), and others.

Here's the short version: Linagliptin (Tradjenta) already works to bring your blood sugar down. The idea on file is that concentrated Japanese Apricot extract might nudge blood sugar a little lower too. If both pull in the same direction, you could in theory see numbers dip more than expected, with possible signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This is only a theoretical concern from animal research, and it hasn't been shown in people. Tart umeboshi or apricot in your food is very unlikely to matter. A concentrated supplement is the bigger question, so check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting one, and keep an eye on your readings.
