Kamala is a red powder from the fruit of the Mallotus philippensis tree, used in traditional medicine mainly to expel intestinal worms and as a dye. Modern human evidence for its safety and effectiveness is very limited, and it can cause significant digestive upset, so it should only be used under professional guidance, if at all.

About Azacitidine

What Is Azacitidine Used For?

Brand names: Vidaza, Onureg

Azacitidine injection (brands: Vidaza and generic azacitidine for injection) treats adults with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) — a group of bone marrow conditions where blood cells don't develop normally. The specific MDS subtypes include refractory anemia, refractory anemia with ringed sideroblasts (when accompanied by low white or platelet counts, or transfusion dependence), refractory anemia with excess blasts, refractory anemia with excess blasts in transformation, and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. Vidaza is also approved for infants and children aged 1 month and older with newly diagnosed juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML).

Onureg (the oral tablet form of azacitidine) is used for a different purpose: continued treatment of adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who achieved their first remission after intensive chemotherapy but are not able to continue intensive curative therapy. Onureg is not interchangeable with the injectable forms.
