Here's the simple version: karaya gum is a bulky fiber that swells into a gel in your stomach and intestines. When a pill like danicopan (Voydeya) is sitting in that gel, the fiber can sometimes grab onto it and slow or reduce how much your body actually absorbs. Danicopan is an add-on treatment for a blood condition called PNH, so getting a steady, full dose really does matter.

Now, the honest part: this is a theoretical concern based on how fiber laxatives behave in general, not something proven for danicopan specifically. The easy fix is timing. Take your danicopan first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before your karaya gum. If you have questions, your pharmacist or doctor can help you set up a schedule.

As a fiber-type laxative it may help with occasional constipation, but high-quality evidence is limited, and it should be taken with plenty of water to avoid choking or blockage.
