Here's the simple version. Karaya gum is a bulky fiber that swells into a gel in your stomach and gut. When a swallowed pill like Ensartinib (Ensacove), your once-daily lung cancer tablet, is sitting in that gel at the same time, the fiber can trap part of it and change how much gets absorbed. In theory that could mean a little less drug reaching your blood, which might slightly weaken its cancer-fighting effect.

To be clear, this is a theoretical concern based on how fiber behaves, not something proven with Ensartinib. It's easy to sidestep too: simply separate them, taking the karaya gum at least 30 to 60 minutes after your Ensartinib, with plenty of water. Since Ensartinib matters a lot for your treatment, please confirm the timing with your oncology pharmacist or doctor.

Karaya gum is a natural plant gum from the Sterculia tree that is mostly used as a bulk-forming laxative and as a thickener or adhesive in food, dental, and ostomy products. As a fiber-type laxative it may help with occasional constipation, but high-quality evidence is limited, and it should be taken with plenty of water to avoid choking or blockage. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have swallowing problems or bowel conditions.
