Here's the gist with Molindone (Moban) and karaya gum: this is a physical issue in your gut, not a liver enzyme thing. Karaya gum swells into a thick gel when it hits water, and that gel can grab onto a swallowed tablet and slightly change how much gets absorbed. In theory that could mean a little less Molindone reaching your bloodstream (possibly weaker control of symptoms) or, less commonly, a bit more.

Honestly, this is a minor, theory-based concern, not something I'd lose sleep over. The easy fix is timing: take your Molindone first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before the karaya gum. If you notice your symptoms creeping back or feel more drowsy or restless, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

Karaya gum is a natural plant gum from the Sterculia tree that is mostly used as a bulk-forming laxative and as a thickener or adhesive in food, dental, and ostomy products. As a fiber-type laxative it may help with occasional constipation, but high-quality evidence is limited, and it should be taken with plenty of water to avoid choking or blockage. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have swallowing problems or bowel conditions.

Molindone Hydrochloride Tablets are approved for the management of schizophrenia. Its effectiveness was shown in clinical studies involving both newly hospitalized patients and those with chronic, acutely ill schizophrenia.
