ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Clinafloxacin
Clinafloxacin falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Levilactobacillus Brevis interacts with.
Levilactobacillus brevis preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. brevis preparations by at least two hours.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: Clinafloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, and like all antibiotics, its whole job is to kill bacteria. The catch is that your Levilactobacillus brevis probiotic is also made of live bacteria. If you swallow them at the same time, the antibiotic can't tell the difference and may wipe out a good chunk of those helpful organisms before they ever do anything for you.
So this isn't dangerous, and it won't change how well the clinafloxacin treats your infection. It just means you may be wasting your probiotic. The easy fix is timing: take them at least two hours apart. This is a theory based on how these products work, not a proven problem, but separating them is a smart, no-cost habit. Check with your pharmacist if you'd like to map out the timing.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clinafloxacin page
“If you have been prescribed clinafloxacin, a quinolone antibiotic, start with the four interactions rated major, because they all do the same thing: apple, grapefruit, and orange juice, along with activated charcoal, can sharply cut how much of the drug you absorb, and an antibiotic that never reaches your bloodstream cannot clear the…”

Levilactobacillus brevis (formerly Lactobacillus brevis) is a lactic acid bacterium found in fermented foods like sauerkraut, pickles, and kimchi, and is used as a probiotic.
