Mifepristone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Lime interacts with.

Animal research shows that phenolics in lime juice inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4. This has been demonstrated in rats treated with sildenafil, a CYP3A4 substrate, and high doses of lime juice.

Here's the basic idea with lime and your Korlym (mifepristone). Your body clears this medicine using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Some lab and animal studies suggest the plant compounds in lime juice can slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in people, your body might clear mifepristone a little more slowly, letting levels creep up. Since mifepristone isn't a prodrug, more drug in your system could mean a stronger effect and more side effects like tiredness, nausea, headache, low potassium, or dizziness.

I'll be honest, this is weak evidence so far, mostly from rats given large amounts of lime juice. A squeeze of lime on your food is very unlikely to matter. I'd just avoid concentrated lime supplements or large daily juice amounts, and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Mifepristone (Korlym) Used For?

Brand names: Mifeprex, Korlym

Korlym is prescribed for adults with endogenous Cushing's syndrome — a condition where the body produces too much cortisol — who also have type 2 diabetes or trouble controlling blood sugar. It works to bring those blood sugar levels under control.

It is only for blood sugar problems that are directly caused by Cushing's syndrome. It should not be used to treat ordinary type 2 diabetes unrelated to this condition.
