Music Therapy and Bendamustine Hydrochloride

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Bendamustine Hydrochloride and Music Therapy in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Music Therapy alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Music Therapy at all — not against Bendamustine Hydrochloride, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Music Therapy is a treatment rather than something you take. Tell whoever provides it which medicines you use, and ask your prescriber whether it is appropriate for your health and treatment. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Bendamustine Hydrochloride page

“Bendamustine (Bendeka), a chemotherapy used for certain leukemias and lymphomas, carries 86 supplement and herbal interactions on file, and none of them rates major, so this is a watch-and-adjust list rather than an alarm. Nearly all of the entries, about 80, involve the same liver enzyme, CYP1A2, which helps process bendamustine.”

About Music Therapy

What is Music Therapy?

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Depression and low mood
  • Pain management
  • Dementia and memory support
  • Coping during medical procedures
  • Rehabilitation after stroke or injury

Music therapy is a non-drug, evidence-informed practice where trained therapists use music to support emotional, mental, and physical health. It is generally very safe and may help with stress, mood, pain, and quality of life, though it is best used alongside (not instead of) standard medical care.

Not applicable (a therapeutic practice, not a plant or substance) · Active music-making, listening to recorded or live music, guided sessions with a trained music therapist, group or individual sessions

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Music Therapy is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Music Therapy record says about it on its own.

Music Therapy: dosing

There is no standardized "dose" for music therapy, since it is a practice rather than a product. Session length, frequency, and type are usually chosen by a certified music therapist based on your goals and needs. In studies and clinical settings, sessions often last roughly 20 to 60 minutes and may be done once or several times a week, but this varies widely. Casual listening to calming music on your own is also a safe, simple way to relax.
