Orchic Extract and Digoxin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Digoxin and Orchic Extract in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Orchic Extract at all — not against Digoxin, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Orchic Extract safety at a glance

Orchic Extract overall Use caution Human safety and effectiveness data are very limited, and animal-tissue products carry quality and contamination concerns.
Pregnancy Avoid There is no safety data, so it should be avoided during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding Avoid There is no safety data, so it should be avoided while breastfeeding.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

  • A slow heartbeat Worth acting on
  • Hallucinations Worth acting on
  • Heart failure Worth acting on
  • An irregular heartbeat Worth acting on
  • Confusion Worth acting on

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Digoxin. Read the label on DailyMed › Orchic Extract’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Orchic Extract side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Orchic Extract has no side effects.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Digoxin page

“Digoxin is a heart medicine with a narrow therapeutic index, meaning the gap between a helpful blood level and a harmful one is small, and few drugs give me more pause when supplements enter the picture. The most serious entries here are herbs that themselves contain digoxin-like cardiac glycosides, foxglove and lily-of-the-valley amon…”

About Orchic Extract

What is Orchic Extract?

  • Low testosterone or male vitality
  • Sexual performance and libido support
  • Athletic performance and muscle building
  • General 'glandular' health support

Orchic extract is a glandular supplement made from the testicle tissue of animals, usually cattle. It is marketed for testosterone and male vitality, but there is essentially no reliable human evidence that it works, and quality and safety standards for animal-derived glandulars vary widely. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Orchic Extract is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Orchic Extract record says about it on its own.

Orchic Extract: dosing

There is no established or standardized dose for orchic extract. Because it has not been properly studied, no amount has been shown to be safe or effective. If you choose to use a product, follow the dose printed on the label and do not exceed it.

About Digoxin

What Is Digoxin Used For?

Brand names: Lanoxicaps, Lanoxin, Digitek

Digoxin treats mild to moderate heart failure in adults. It improves heart failure symptoms and exercise capacity, and it reduces heart failure-related hospitalizations and emergency care. It does not change survival.

It also helps control the resting heart rate in adults with chronic atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat). In children with heart failure, the tablet, oral solution and most injection products are used to increase the heart’s pumping strength (myocardial contractility). Some older injection labels list only the adult uses. Digoxin Oral Solution should not be used for multifocal atrial tachycardia.
