Ceritinib falls under QT INTERVAL-PROLONGING DRUGS — the group Panax Ginseng interacts with.

Theoretically, Panax ginseng has an additive effect with drugs that prolong the QT interval and potentially increase the risk of ventricular arrhythmias. However, research is conflicting.
Clinical research shows that short-term use of Panax ginseng can increase the QT interval. However, no changes in QT interval have been identified with prolonged use.

Here's the connection to keep an eye on. Ceritinib (Zykadia) is one of those cancer medicines that can stretch out your heart's electrical cycle, something doctors call QT prolongation. Panax ginseng may do a little of the same thing, at least with short-term use, so taking both together could in theory add up and raise the chance of an irregular heartbeat. With longer ginseng use, studies haven't shown this change, and overall the research is genuinely mixed.

This isn't about ginseng changing how your body breaks Ceritinib down. It's simply two things that can each tap the same effect on the heart. Because heart rhythm is serious and the evidence is uneven, please don't start ginseng without first checking with your oncologist or pharmacist.
