Peanut Oil and Phenelzine Sulfate

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Phenelzine Sulfate and Peanut Oil in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Peanut Oil at all — not against Phenelzine Sulfate, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

What Peanut Oil Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Phenelzine Sulfate. It is the side-effect record for Peanut Oil on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Peanut Oil, this list is the first place to look. One entry is worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • A severe allergic reaction / An allergic reaction Worth acting on Additional detail

“Peanut oil can cause a severe allergic reaction in individuals allergic to the Fabaceae family. Members of this family include peanuts and soybeans. Peanut allergy is the number one cause of fatal food-induced anaphylaxis with hypersensitivity in 6% to 8% of children and 1% of adults. Various peanut protein allergens have been identified.”

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Peanut Oil — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Phenelzine Sulfate’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Phenelzine Sulfate column appears here.

About Peanut Oil

What is Peanut Oil?

  • Cooking and frying
  • Skin moisturizing and massage
  • Carrier oil for other ingredients
  • Earwax softening (folk use)
  • Dry or chapped skin

Peanut oil is a food-grade oil pressed from peanuts, used mainly for cooking and as a skin or massage oil. It is generally considered safe as a food, but people with peanut allergy should be cautious, especially with crude (less-refined) oils, and there is little strong evidence for medicinal benefits.

Arachis hypogaea · Fabaceae · Oil pressed from the seeds (peanuts) · Cooking oil, topical/massage oil, ingredient in skin and hair products, carrier oil, some injectable medication formulations

Peanut Oil: dosing

There is no established medicinal dose for peanut oil. As a cooking oil, it is used in normal culinary amounts, like any other vegetable oil.If you are using a product that contains peanut oil for skin care or another purpose, follow the directions on the label.

About Phenelzine

What Is Phenelzine Used For?

Brand name: Nardil

Phenelzine is used to treat depression — specifically the types described as atypical, nonendogenous, or neurotic depression. This often includes people who have a mix of anxiety and depression, or who have phobic or hypochondriacal features (strong fears about illness or physical symptoms).

It is generally not the first antidepressant a doctor will try. It is best suited for patients who have already tried other antidepressants without enough relief. There is less evidence supporting its use in severe depression with classic biological features (called endogenous depression).
