Brand names: Carafate, Antepsin

Sucralfate — available as tablets and oral suspension under brand names including Carafate — is used for the short-term treatment (up to 8 weeks) of active duodenal ulcers.

Carafate tablets and sucralfate tablets are also approved for maintenance therapy — meaning a lower dose taken after an ulcer heals to help keep it from coming back.
