Ixazomib Citrate brand name: Ninlaro.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Streptococcus Thermophilus and Ixazomib Citrate in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the label for Ixazomib Citrate states a food rule worth keeping to.

Streptococcus Thermophilus and Ixazomib Citrate

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Ixazomib Citrate and Streptococcus Thermophilus in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Streptococcus Thermophilus at all — not against Ixazomib Citrate, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

What Streptococcus Thermophilus Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Ixazomib Citrate. It is the side-effect record for Streptococcus Thermophilus on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Streptococcus Thermophilus, this list is the first place to look. One entry is worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • A higher chance of infection Worth acting on Additional detail

“Since many probiotic preparations contain live and active microorganisms, there is some concern that they might cause pathogenic infection in some patients. Bacteremia and sepsis have been reported in patients with indwelling or central venous catheters or patients who are severely ill and/or immunocompromised, including preterm infants, that were using probiotic products.”

We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Ixazomib Citrate’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Ixazomib Citrate column appears here.

How to take them

Some Ixazomib Citrate Products Have a Food Rule — Streptococcus Thermophilus Should Not Break It

At least one FDA label for a product containing Ixazomib Citrate says to take it on an empty stomach. Most supplements — Streptococcus Thermophilus included — are taken with a meal, so the easy mistake is swallowing both together at breakfast. Where that rule applies, keep Ixazomib Citrate on its own and move Streptococcus Thermophilus to a meal later in the day.

This may not be true of your version. Food instructions belong to the product, not the ingredient: two Ixazomib Citrate products can carry different directions, and extended-release forms often differ from immediate-release ones. The label we read is quoted below — check the directions on your own box or bottle, or ask your pharmacist, for how to take the exact product you were given.

( 2.1 ) Dose should be taken at least one hour before or at least two hours after food.

From the Dosage and Administration section of the FDA label we read for Ixazomib Citrate — where that label names a specific product, the instruction is that product's. See the Ixazomib Citrate drug page ›

A food rule is not an interaction — it is about how much of the medicine you absorb. The directions that came with your own product, and your pharmacist, outrank anything on this page.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ixazomib Citrate page

“Anyone taking ixazomib citrate (Ninlaro) for multiple myeloma should give this list real weight, because a supplement that shifts this chemotherapy's blood level can shift how well it works against the cancer. Of the 168 ingredients on file, 121 act on CYP3A4, the enzyme that clears ixazomib.”

About Streptococcus Thermophilus

What is Streptococcus Thermophilus?

  • Digestive health
  • Lactose intolerance
  • Diarrhea prevention and support
  • Gut microbiome balance
  • Immune support

Streptococcus thermophilus is a friendly bacterium used as a probiotic, often combined with other strains in yogurt and supplements. It is generally well tolerated in healthy people and may help with digestion and lactose breakdown, but solid evidence for most specific health claims is still limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting it, especially if your immune system is weak.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Streptococcus Thermophilus is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Streptococcus Thermophilus record says about it on its own.

Streptococcus Thermophilus: dosing

There is no single official or standardized dose for Streptococcus thermophilus. Probiotic products are usually measured in colony-forming units (CFU), and amounts vary widely between products. The best approach is to follow the dosing directions on the product label, since formulas differ.
