Ketoprofen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Tarragon interacts with.

Evidence from in vitro research suggests that tarragon extract inhibits platelet aggregation and adhesion. Theoretically, tarragon might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs. Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the thing about ketoprofen: it's an NSAID, and one side effect it already carries is a higher risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. It can thin the blood a bit on its own. Now, lab studies suggest tarragon may also make platelets (the cells that form clots) a little less sticky. Put the two together and, in theory, you could nudge that bleeding risk up a notch.

I want to be honest about the evidence here, though. This concern comes only from test-tube and animal research, not from real people, so it's more theoretical than proven. The pinch of tarragon in a recipe is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated extracts or tarragon oil are where I'd be more careful. If you bruise easily or notice unusual bleeding, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Ketoprofen Used For?

Brand names: Orudis, Oruvail Gel, Powergel, Oruvail Injection

Ketoprofen capsules (including the brand Orudis) are used to manage the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, to treat pain, and to treat primary dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods).

Ketoprofen extended-release capsules are approved for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis only. Because of the way they slowly release the drug, ketoprofen extended-release capsules are not recommended for treating acute (sudden) pain.
