Ezetimibe, Atorvastatin falls under ORGANIC ANION-TRANSPORTING POLYPEPTIDE SUBSTRATES (OATP) — the group Theaflavin interacts with.

In vitro, theaflavin inhibits organic anion-transporting polypeptide (OATP)2B1. OATP2B1 is expressed in the small intestine and liver and is responsible for the uptake of drugs and other compounds. This interaction has not been shown in humans. However, theaflavin might reduce the absorption of drugs that are OATP2B1 substrates. Use with caution.

Liptruzet combines two cholesterol-lowering medicines, ezetimibe and atorvastatin. Both rely on a gut transporter called OATP2B1 to be absorbed properly. In test-tube studies, theaflavin (a compound concentrated in black tea extracts) blocks that transporter. If the same thing happened in people, less of your medicine might get absorbed, which could mean weaker cholesterol control over time rather than more side effects.

Here's the honest part: this has only been seen in lab work, never confirmed in humans, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Enjoying a cup of black tea is very different from taking high-dose extracts. If you're considering a theaflavin supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on your numbers.
