Vetiver + Ranitidine
Ranitidine brand names: Zantac 150 EFFER, Zantac 150 GEL, Zantac 150, Zantac Geldose, Zantac, and others.
We found no known interaction between Vetiver and Ranitidine in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Vetiver and Ranitidine
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Ranitidine and Vetiver in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Vetiver at all — not against Ranitidine, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Questions About Vetiver or Ranitidine
These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Vetiver or Ranitidine, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:

This page covers Vetiver only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Ranitidine page lists 74 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), St. John's Wort (major), African Wild Potato (moderate), Banderol (moderate) and Beer (moderate).
By severity: 2 major · 43 moderate · 29 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ranitidine page
“Ranitidine (Zantac) is a heartburn and ulcer medicine gentle enough to have sold over the counter, but two of the 74 supplements and herbs on file with it earn real caution and are worth understanding first. Activated charcoal can soak up ranitidine in the gut and blunt the dose, and St.”

Where does our data come from?
- Source: the Natural Medicines (TRC Healthcare) clinical database — the evidence-graded professional reference for herb & supplement interactions.
- Citation library: 103,510 references behind our interaction content, 65,311 of them resolved to verified PubMed/DOI sources. See every Vetiver reference on this page ↓
- Freshness: we automatically re-check this combination every week — this pair was last verified October 4, 2026. The Vetiver and Ranitidine records this page draws on were last updated July 11, 2026.
- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Vetiver
What is Vetiver?
- Relaxation and stress relief (aromatherapy)
- Sleep support
- Skin care and soothing irritated skin
- Insect repellent
- Traditional cooling tonic
Vetiver is a fragrant grass whose roots produce an essential oil widely used in perfumes and aromatherapy for relaxation. Human evidence for any health benefit is very limited, so it is best thought of as a pleasant scent rather than a proven remedy. The oil should be diluted before skin use and is not meant to be swallowed.
Chrysopogon zizanioides · Poaceae · Roots and the essential oil distilled from them · Essential oil, aromatherapy blends, soaps and skin-care products, dried roots, perfume ingredient
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Vetiver is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Vetiver record says about it on its own.
Vetiver: dosing
There is no established or standardized medicinal dose for vetiver. It is most often used as an aromatherapy oil (a few drops in a diffuser) or applied to the skin after being diluted in a carrier oil such as coconut or jojoba.Follow the directions on the specific product you buy, since concentration and quality vary between brands.

About Ranitidine
What Is Ranitidine Used For?
Brand names: Zantac 150 EFFER, Zantac 150 GEL, Zantac 150, Zantac Geldose, Zantac, Ranit, Zantac Efferdose, Zantac 300, Zantac 300 GEL, Ranitidine injection
Ranitidine treats a range of stomach acid–related conditions. Prescription-strength ranitidine (capsules, tablets, and oral solution) is used for active duodenal ulcers (ulcers in the small intestine), active benign gastric ulcers (stomach ulcers), GERD (acid reflux disease), erosive esophagitis (acid damage to the esophagus), and pathological hypersecretory conditions — rare disorders where the stomach makes far too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also used as maintenance therapy to keep duodenal and gastric ulcers from coming back after they have healed.
Over-the-counter products — including Acid Reducer and Acid Reducer 150 tablets — are approved to relieve heartburn associated with acid indigestion and sour stomach, and to prevent that heartburn when taken before eating or drinking foods that trigger it.

Ranitidine Is Linked to Lower Levels of 6 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Ranitidine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Vetiver — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
