ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Naproxen, Pseudoephedrine
Naproxen, Pseudoephedrine falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Wasabi interacts with.
In vitro research shows that 6-(methylsulfinyl) hexyl isothiocyanate, a constituent of wasabi, inhibits platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the connection worth knowing about. The naproxen part of Aleve Cold and Sinus is an NSAID, and like aspirin it already makes platelets a little 'slippery,' so they don't clump together as easily. Lab studies suggest a compound in wasabi may do something similar and gently nudge platelets in the same direction. Stack the two and, in theory, you could see a small bump in bleeding-type effects, think easier bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach irritation, since naproxen can be tough on the gut on its own.
That said, this is theoretical and based only on test-tube research, not real people. A dab of wasabi with your sushi is very unlikely to matter. If you're using a concentrated wasabi supplement or take naproxen often, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Naproxen, Pseudoephedrine page
“Aleve Cold and Sinus pairs naproxen, an anti-inflammatory painkiller, with pseudoephedrine, a decongestant that acts as a mild stimulant, and that combination is why its supplement list runs to 334 entries and deserves real vigilance. The two biggest themes mirror the two drugs.”

About Wasabi
What is Wasabi?
- Flavoring for sushi and other foods
- Antimicrobial support
- Anti-inflammatory support
- Antioxidant support
- General immune support
Wasabi is best known as the pungent green condiment served with sushi, made from a Japanese plant in the cabbage family. Its natural compounds (isothiocyanates) show antimicrobial and antioxidant activity in lab studies, but there is very little human research to support taking it as a supplement. As a food it is generally safe; as a concentrated supplement, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.
