Here's the gist with bosutinib (Bosulif) and xanthan gum. Xanthan gum is a soluble fiber that turns into a thick gel in your stomach and slows how fast things empty out. In theory, that gel could grab onto a swallowed pill or simply slow it down, which might change how much bosutinib your body absorbs. This is a theoretical concern based on how fiber behaves, not something proven to happen with this specific drug, and it's rated minor.

Still, bosutinib is a cancer medicine where steady absorption matters, and food already affects it. A simple fix is timing: take your bosutinib first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before any xanthan gum supplement. Food-level amounts rarely matter, but please run any thickener or fiber supplement past your oncology pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Bosutinib Used For?

Brand name: Bosulif

Bosutinib is used to treat Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myelogenous leukemia (Ph+ CML) — a type of blood cancer. It can be used for newly diagnosed patients or for those whose cancer has stopped responding to, or who cannot tolerate, a prior treatment.

Bosulif (the brand-name product) is approved for adults and children 1 year and older with chronic phase Ph+ CML, and for adults with accelerated phase or blast phase Ph+ CML that is resistant or intolerant to prior therapy. Generic bosutinib tablets are approved for adults only with the same range of disease phases.
