Roxithromycin falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Xanthan Gum interacts with.

Theoretically, xanthan gum can alter the absorption of oral drugs due to its fiber qualities. Xanthan gum slows gastric emptying and has been used to control the release of drugs in tablet formulations. To avoid any alterations in drug absorption, xanthan gum should be taken 30-60 minutes after oral medications.

Here's the gist with roxithromycin, an antibiotic you take by mouth. Xanthan gum is a soluble fiber that turns into a thick gel in your stomach and gut. That gel can slow how fast things empty out of your stomach, and in theory it might slow or slightly reduce how much of an antibiotic like roxithromycin gets absorbed. For an antibiotic, the worry would be getting a little less of the dose into your system, which could make it work less well.

I'll be honest: this is a theoretical concern based on how fiber behaves, not something well documented with this specific drug. A practical fix is simple spacing. Take your roxithromycin first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before any xanthan gum supplement. Food amounts are unlikely to matter. Run it by your pharmacist if you're unsure.
