1-Androsterone carries real health risks with little safety testing to back it up. The most common side effects reported are abnormal cholesterol levels (LDL cholesterol rose about 29 mg/dL and HDL fell about 19 mg/dL in a 4-week trial), liver enzyme elevation, and kidney problems.

One trial showed kidney function (measured by GFR) dropped by about 16.4 mL/min/1.72m², crossing into a range that suggests mild kidney impairment, though creatinine stayed in the normal range. Do not use this product if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

The safety data advises against it during both — it's a hormone-altering compound, and the risks to a developing baby or nursing infant are unknown.
