Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This is a single-ingredient supplement: alpha-GPC (alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine), a compound your body naturally makes and one that's also found in some foods. The capsule also contains cellulose and magnesium stearate as inactive ingredients — the binders and fillers that hold it together.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence is mixed. Alpha-GPC is possibly effective for Alzheimer disease based on available studies.
For brain tumors, cognitive function, vascular dementia, and stroke, we don't yet have enough reliable evidence to say whether it works. If you're thinking about it for one of those other conditions, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what the current research shows.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Alpha-GPC is generally well tolerated in studies, but long-term safety hasn't been fully established. A small number of people taking it orally have reported dizziness, excitation, headache, insomnia, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, or vomiting.
Rarely, stroke has been reported; notably, taking alpha-GPC for at least 2 months was linked to a higher stroke risk compared to non-users or shorter-term users. Because there isn't enough safety information overall, avoid it unless your doctor specifically directs you to use it.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
If you use a scopolamine patch (Transderm Scop) for motion sickness, alpha-GPC may reduce its effect — check with your pharmacist or doctor first. No other interactions are documented for the ingredient we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.
Alpha-GPC is possibly effective for Alzheimer disease, but the evidence for other uses is still incomplete. Safety data from long-term use is limited, and there's a rare but documented link to stroke with extended use.
Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you're on any medications or have had a stroke.

Alpha GPC 300 mg by X Gold Health Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Alpha GPC 300 mg by X Gold Health has documented interactions with one medication type.
The main concern is scopolamine (the motion-sickness patch Transderm Scop). Alpha-GPC may theoretically weaken scopolamine's effects — a small clinical trial showed it can partially reverse the attention and memory problems that scopolamine causes, though it's unclear whether it would reduce the patch's anti-nausea benefit.

Altogetther, these interactions span 16 individual medications.
Because we only hold interaction data for alpha-GPC, we can't speak to potential effects from the inactive ingredients (cellulose and magnesium stearate). If you use a scopolamine patch or take any prescription medication, run it through the checker below before you start.

Theoretically, alpha-GPC might decrease the effects of scopolamine.
A small clinical study shows that alpha-GPC can partially counteract the attention and memory impairment effects caused by scopolamine given intramuscularly. Whether alpha-GPC can decrease the beneficial anti-motion sickness effects of the scopolamine patch (Transderm Scop) is unclear.
