Alpha-gpc and Chlorpheniramine, Methscopolamine, Phenylpropanolamine

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Minor

SCOPOLAMINE (Transderm Scop)

Theoretically, alpha-GPC might decrease the effects of scopolamine.
A small clinical study shows that alpha-GPC can partially counteract the attention and memory impairment effects caused by scopolamine given intramuscularly. Whether alpha-GPC can decrease the beneficial anti-motion sickness effects of the scopolamine patch (Transderm Scop) is unclear.
Severity Minor Likelihood Possible Evidence B

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Your Pannaz combo contains methscopolamine, which (like scopolamine) works by blocking acetylcholine, the brain and body's 'rest and digest' messenger. Here's the catch: Alpha-GPC does the opposite. It gives your body more choline to make acetylcholine. So in theory, taking the two together could nudge against each other, and Alpha-GPC might slightly blunt the drying effects you're relying on this medicine for.

That said, this is mostly theoretical, based on one small study with injected scopolamine, not the everyday oral dose in Pannaz. For most people the effect is minor, if it happens at all. If you feel your medicine isn't working as well, or you notice more runny nose or congestion, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
