Andrographis is generally well tolerated when taken short-term, though long-term safety and the quality of products on the market aren't well established. The most common side effects are abdominal discomfort, changes in taste, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea or vomiting, itching, and rash.

However, this reduced bioavailability is not correlated with a reduction in the anti-inflammatory effects of etoricoxib in arthritic mice models.
